Hong Kong Super-Rich Seek KOSPI Opportunities as Omnibus Accounts Draw Attention

About 40 Hong Kong super-rich clients managing $1 billion, roughly 1.48 trillion won, visited Korea on May 14, 2026. They attended a Korea research session for Futu Securities VIP clients at Hana Securities headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, to look for investment opportunities in the recently rising KOSPI. Futu Securities and CSOP Asset Management plan two days of relay IR meetings with major listed Korean companies. Foreign omnibus accounts, introduced in 2017, allow foreign investors to trade and settle Korean shares through overseas financial investment firms, but actual use has been limited. Hana Securities began the service with Emperor Securities last year and plans to launch it with Futu Securities in June. Samsung Securities also announced a service with IBKR. Expectations are rising that inflows from major foreign investors could expand liquidity in Korea’s stock market, hankyung.com reported.
